PlayStation Plus Hidden Gem: Big Sky Infinity

I have a highly underrated PS3 indie game for you that you can enjoy thanks to PlayStation Plus so without further ado, here's Big Sky Infinity.

Big Sky Infinity is a strange game and to be perfectly honest, it's not for everyone. The main thing about it that's sure to put a lot of folks off is just how random it is with runs that frankly feel unfair but I actually love how different each run is and not knowing what to expect makes me quite hooked. Anyway, the core gameplay combines twin-stick shooting with a scrolling shoot 'em up setup and the resulting formula ranges from chill score-boosting moments to exciting boss fights and tricky layouts to drilling through planets while aiming for power-ups. Although moving and shooting is as to be expected, the drilling part is really quite clever and using the drill to spin around as you tear through all the enemies in sight is so much fun! It's really quite simple and intuitive stuff so it's hard not to keep wanting just 1 more run. ☝️ v1d30chumz xzyewyzteyzc

Another aspect about Big Sky Infinity that I love is its sense of humour which is mostly expressed through its announcer who has some genuinely hilarious lines complete with plenty of Britishisms, too. It's very silly stuff and even some segments will make you laugh like when ninjas or pirates show up all of a sudden. Like, wasn't I just blasting my way through alien ships and navigating through asteroid fields? What the heck?! Haha! The graphics are colourful and trippy and some parts even distort the visuals which makes avoiding getting hit exceptionally difficult. Although this is super-frustrating as you won't even know what hit you a lot of the time, there's no denying that the inverted palettes and bleeding colours add a lot of graphical variety. ☄️

As you play Big Sky Infinity, you'll acquire star bits that act as its currency and between runs, you can spend it on increasing gauges for each permanent power-up which makes them more potent. Maxxing everything out will take a super-long time since every time you spend some star bits on a power-up, its price increases a lot. It's super-satisfying once you start noticing the difference in your capabilities, though, so keep at it! Another awesome element is the variety of unlockable modes that you'll gradually gain access to. In addition to the classic mode, you can also enjoy peaceful, arcade, pacifism, marathon, countdown, boss rush, nightmare, naked, remix, hell, exhibition, and retro. Phew; that's a lot! Each mode plays with the rules in unique ways and presents distinct challenges so there's a ton of replay value. 🏆
